User Updatable Map / MiniMap

Quick question.

Is it possible to create a addon that will allow users to place markers on the map or minimap to highlight whatever they wish. ie POI's / Spawn's / Harvestable Spawns' (mining / lumberjacking)?

It may or may not be possible I have seen one minimap addon that had preset POI's but no way for the user to modify. Just would be nice for keeping track of where you find things.

You can create your own with just a text file or you can use one that sites update from user submission.
